Space Research

Space research is scientific studies carried out using scientific equipment in outer space. It includes the use of space technology for a broad spectrum of research disciplines, including Earth science, materials science, biology, medicine, and physics.

Space research broadly involves semiconductor, thin film surface science etc. So equipment listed under the material sciences will be used by space scientists also.

In this section we would like to cover specifically Telescope segment which is used for studying either outer space from earth or earth from outer space.

What is Telescope: An optical instrument designed to make distant objects appear nearer, containing an arrangement of lenses, or of curved mirrors and lenses, by which rays of light are collected and focused and the resulting image magnified. This is more simplified way of saying what Telescope is.

We would like to introduce OFFICINA STELLARE S.r.l. Italy.

Officina Stellare is the only manufacturer in the world to offer a complete suite of "standard" telescopes and astrographs, to meet any need for professional astronomers, institutions, universities, astronomy clubs and of course the most advanced amateurs.

With the choice of three different optical schemes for telescopes, all available in the 400 to 800 mm aperture range, and the extraordinary family of "RH Veloce" astrographs (200 to 350 mm aperture) it is really unlikely

Officina Stellare (OS) don't have the instrument that does not fit your needs. Come and explore website link

Any optical part is polished by OS opticians in OS optical shop in Occhiobello.

All telescopes share the following mechanical characteristics:

  • Two (optionally four) Losmandy or 8" dovetail plates, to connect the telescope to your mount, or to accommodate accessories.

  • Computer optimized baffles.

  • Focal plane tilt adjusting.

  • Optional shutter to protect the primary mirror.

  • High precision spherical joint and high strength carbon tubes in the truss structure for zero-backlash assembly and extraordinary rigidity.

  • Double concentric light shield for the secondary mirror/spider support.

  • Radial micrometric adjustment for the secondary mirror support.

  • All collimation screws are spring-loaded, with lock if needed.

  • Zero image shift secondary mirror movement, with electronic/PC control (optional on smaller telescopes, standard in the big ones).

  • Special ultra-dark and ultra-opaque space-grade paint for all sensible parts. Space grade glue for glued parts. Space-grade rubber for all seals.

  • Unique mirror supports design.

  • Wide choice of focusers, filter wheels, and optical train accessories in general.

  • Customization available.

RH Veloce

"Veloce", in Italian, means fast. And OS choose this name because no other design allows such fast f/ ratios with a so high definition over a wide and flat focal plane. Any Veloce offers pinpoint stars all over the field of view. To put it simply, the best astrograph you can buy.

RiFast

https://www.officinastellare.com/professional-telescopes-cat/rifast.html

A big, beautiful telescope at f/3.8.

Devoted to astrophotograpy, the RiFast family has a unique optical scheme, proprietary of Officina Stellare, another creation of OS master optician, Massimo Riccardi. The tree-lens field flattener is the real masterpiece of this telescope. The primary mirror is aspherical and the secondary mirror is spherical. A precise design choice to make collimation easier.

RiDK

https://www.officinastellare.com/professional-telescopes-cat/ridk.html

An evolution of the Dall-Kirkham design, the RiDK is probably the most "universal" family in OS catalog, and the most affordable. With an f/7 native focal ratio, the RiDK (Riccardi Dall-Kirkham) represents the new reference point for all modified Dall-Kirkham instruments available on the market. The unique experience and creativity of Massimo Riccardi, Chief Optical Designer at Officina Stellare, created this new family of telescopes with superior performance and image quality.

ProRC

How many details one can think about, in a telescope? Well, from the primary mirror to the smallest screw, any detail of OC ProRC line is designed, manufactured and assembled with perfection in mind, to provide you the best image quality available today.

BiOS series

A new joint venture: the ultimate instrumentation for both astronomical researchers and the most demanding astroimagers has finally landed. Joining their heritage and expertise, Software Bisque and Officina Stellare are proud to introduce the BIOS range.

OS Mount

https://www.officinastellare.com/professional-telescopes-cat/os_mount.html

The new mount from Officina Stellare: the right choice for professional applications.

Officina Stellare is very proud to present a new mount for telescopes up to 80cm (or smaller telescopes arrays with a total payload up to more than 300Kgs in equatorial mode), available both in equatorial and alt/az version. It’s a new a professional mount, ready for every demanding user. The structure is optimized for high stiffness and is designed to minimize any thermal deformation. It is available both with direct drive or AC brushless high torque motors on both axes.

Absolute Heidenhain on axis encoders are very precise, with a resolution up to 28 bits (0.004 arcsec) thus allowing real-time tracking correction on each axis and motion metrology as well. After modelling, the measured and working pointing error is tipically 5 arcsec RMS and the tracking precision is tipically +/- 0.25 arcsec RMS over a 20 minutes exposure. These are not theoretical values, but measured ones.

The mount is provided with a fully featured software suite: The Sky X pro© with all optional packages included. This provides to the customer the capability to use the most complete and advanced modelling core available today: T-point©.

So you can get your mount ready to use, for all kind of research works, including astronomical, satellite tracking and laser communication applications.

Accessories
